The Luxury Feeling

Luxury isn’t just about the price you pay for something, it is also about the feeling that it creates, so when it comes to your custom designed kitchen, luxury is both a pleasure and an investment. So what can you do to add the luxe feeling?

Add high quality appliances:
It is relatively easy to ring in the changes with kitchen units and worktops, as you can paint them, change the handles or even replace them individually. However, the only way to upgrade appliances is to replace them completely, and it is best to create a new kitchen based on the best appliances you can afford. Top-quality appliances are both luxurious to look at and a pleasure to use. They can also be more economical over the long-term than their cheaper counterparts since they can last longer and use less energy.

Light up your life:
There is a very good reason why artists, photographers and professional interior designers all pay a great deal of attention to lighting, and that is because it can make all the difference to a picture or a room. Traditional kitchen lighting has tended to be on the harsh side since the general attitude has typically been “safety first”. A more modern approach is to look at when and where you need ‘working light’ i.e. lighting that allows you to see what you are doing and also when and where you need ‘living light’ i.e. light which allows you to enjoy your kitchen when you are not actually working in it. Basically, choose lights and lighting styles that you love.

Hide unsightly essentials:
Working kitchens generally have to house items such as cleaning tools and liquids and waste bins, but they can be stored out of sight and out of mind. In practice however they tend to find their way to places which are easily accessible and therefore usually very visible. Instead of trying to fight this, run with it by decanting washing-up liquid out of unsightly bottles and into pretty, pump action dispensers. Move cloths, sponges and scourers away from the taps and into pretty containers beside the sink. Upgrade the bins so you are happy for them to be seen or go for an integrated model.

These ideas will help to ensure your kitchen always looks luxurious while staying practical.

Have a great weekend
